College Of Birmingham is equipped with the required resources that you should take full advantage of whilst you are studying with us. From an interactive and constantly updated virtual learning environment to an online library and IT facilities. This page will provide you with more information about the facilities we offer at the Birmingham campus and how you can make full use of them.
College Of Birmingham has a dynamic virtual learning environment or VLE for all its students on its cloud based server, which stands as a resource for staff and students. On the VLE, students can find centralised information about their courses and information relating to assessments and exams. Some particularly useful features of the VLE are:
- Instant Messaging
- Assignment Submission
- Discussion Forum
- Secure Sharing of Documents and Data
After formal registration at the College you will be given your VLE log on details. When you have this you can navigate the platform at your will. The ‘My Courses’ tab will list all the courses you are studying, the ‘Student News’ tab contains general news addressing all students. College Of Birmingham recommends that you make maximum use of the VLE platform in order to manage your studies and keep up to date with information in relation to your course.
In the premises, we also have scan and photocopying facilities that you will have access to.
The e-library platform access would be given to all learners free of cost which provides an enhanced research database, e-books and e-journals, it offers more than 50000 full-text and secondary research databases and over 2 million e-journal packages and print journals.
College is ideally based for optimum use of all the local amenities and is based in walking distance from local libraries. We would encourage you to register with the local libraries as it is a great resource that you can access at no cost to yourself.
At our College we have a computer suite that is accessible to all students. Students are able to benefit from high speed internet free of charge in the state of the art suites whilst working in a controlled and study focused environment. There are wireless hotspot zones around the college for students to use with their own laptops or tablets and many black and white, colour and multi functioning photocopiers in the campus.
